ooooooooh, Fairbanks is cooooold! brrrr! I did salmon processing for several summers in Cordova, King Salmon and Kodiak. Kodiak was my favorite place, but they were all beautiful. On my first trip there, I kept thinking about Mrs. Clark. Remember how she would tell us about alaska?

Mrs. Clark taught second grade, but we had that same classroom in fourth grade.
That's how denver is, it can be in the fifties and we walk around in short sleeves because there is no humidity. It makes for good hair weather :o)

Salmon processing is easy, but like your job, it has long hours. We work sixteen hour days during peak season. My job sometimes would make it 18 hours and then after four days, I'll cry to the foreman and they send me home to get a whole six hours...woo hoo! I enjoy it when I go, and kind of regret not going this year. I had sworn off going a few years ago, then decided to use it as therapy last year. There is something so comforting in making large amounts of money in a short time.

Our guide on a ferry from Skagway to Haines, AK's father is a fishing captain featured in Discovery Channel's show, "The dealiest catch". It is amazing to see what these fishermen go through to catch those huge king crabs. And sometimes they come up empty-handed! Lot's of $$ in a short amount of time, but you could not pay me enough to get on one of those little boats!!

Oh, I don't blame you. I know the fishermen love what they do, but the wet conditions and the danger involved is a huge turnoff.
"The Deadliest Catch" is a great show!
