Thought starters...

Do you guys remember these activities?

8th grade field trip to the lake?

bowling and trying to get the pins to hit the pinboys?

cooking class?

a certain soccer game where I fouled a kid and his dad grabbed a gun from the car and I had to hide in my mom's classroom? Ok, maybe I remember this just a little more vividly than you might!

The first birthday parties at night, slow dancing, declaraciones, etc?

Monica's brother Enrique's bionic arm?

field trip to Lancetilla?

Swim meets, soccer, basketball, volleyball games vs. EIS, La Valle?

El puente negro?

Fireworks at Christmas and New Years?

Wow, I think I was spaced out during most of my childhood. I never knew Mark was threatened at gunpoint!

What I remember about Profe was him sitting on the bleachers sipping an ice cold Coke, and asking Rolando: "¿Le molesta el sol?" as we trudged around the court again and again. And we'd all want Rolando to take his hat off so we could be spared further misery. And the frickin' "parrillas"...

And for the record, my brother IS bionic. :D

I think it was 7th grade. The opposing school later sent a delegation over to apologize for the incident. I'm not sure the guy could've gotten me though. I know Wilton Thompson Sr. had released the safety to his .38 and would've come to my rescue!

We were quite the athletes, weren't we? I'm not sure how we'd fare today...

What was wrong with Profe that he would dive into the pool? Too many Salva Vidas?

I do remember that very well. His pointers really improved my game too! I remember they played against some of the US military guys who were down there.

I saw Mirna in '03 as I was leaving SPS to come back home. She looked great and had 3 children. Her husband is a professional photographer and she gave me a great CD-ROM with pictures of Honduras set to some great music.

Profe had a few all-nighters...

Seems like there were also lots of spin-the-bottle party games at the Rowe house.

I was no longer there when the gun incident happened, but a year later I became friends with Omar, the boy whose dad did that.
I do remember your broken clavicle, also the result of a soccer game, if I remember correctly.
How do you all remember so much?

Was his dad nice? Quick tempered, perhaps...

I did break my collarbone in the 6th grade playing defense with my cohort, Rolando.

according to Omar, his dad uses his gun often. Probably makes him feel like a man. In my opinion, makes him look like a dumbass, picking on a kid!

I left before hitting puberty...I remember being so jealous of the other girls because they were wearing bras.

Wow Mark, now your brain cells are in overdrive! I can't happen to recall all those memories, but while reading yours, you can't imagine what popped to my mind, remember Mr. & Mrs. Field, I remember him doing something to our arms "chile" and the glass jar of full of "chewed gum"!

I remember that. Yolany had done it the day before and had told me "es mas rico el chicle en el bote". Maybe that's where my desire to go on Fear Factor started.
I remember Mr. Fields showing up one day hung over (or possibly still drunk) wearing shorts and his hair all wild. I liked him back then, but now as an adult I realize that a lot of the things he did weren't very good.

remember Mrs. Fields' low cut blouses? I'm sure the guys in here do!

I wish I had them with me (the pics) they are all in storage in new orleans.
Here's one of those things that makes you go hmmmmm...The Fields had a very cute daughter named Tamara (do you all remember her?) who had big brown eyes. Mr. and Mrs. Fields both have green eyes. Doing a punnett square, what are the odds that a child of two bb genes would have Bb traits?
ay no, ya voy con el chambre yo!

Oh, and Gaby, remember the great brain books? she read those too. I loved them so much, I bought them for my kid.

Things that make you say, "Hmmm..."

The great brain series...those were awesome! I'm going to buy a set myself.

Tom Fitzgerald was the great brain. He had a money-loving heart, which made him the youngest con artist that ever lived. The books were written by his little brother, John Fitzgerald. There were five books altogether and Mrs. Fields read them to us.

Guys, I can't remember half the things you're talking about.

I do remember Mrs. Field's blouses, though. And of course the Great Brain and Charlie...

I remember one night during a movie (probablemente una de chinos), a bunch of us were just throwing popcorn bags across the screen. Then I feel a strong grip on the back of my neck, lifting me up about three inches. It was Mr. Field doing his duty as principal. At the moment, I thought, "We are not in school!" Still, I pissed in my pants.

Welcome back Rol! Missed you last week. I agree, some things are rather foggy.

I'm curious if you remember the Lionel Ritchie songs you "dedicated" to Veronica?

Also, who remembers Yariela Palma's version of "Stars on Ice"? I really wanted to do one of the "couples" routines, but was not a good enough skater!!

Rol, is your family's silver Mazda still on the road? We sold our '64 Chevy lanchon to some missionaries and I'm told it can still be seen cruising around! Shanon, I also remember "roleando" in your Subaru. Vir had the Ford pickup and Francisco (aka Satanas, Chafa, or Giovanni) had an Accord and later a red diesel pickup!

Shanon, I never knew you were this funny. I'm the one peeing my pants from laughing so hard at your cow stories.

Yep, I was a romantic puppy back then. Yariela Palma was always inventing activities for us. Like the junior bowling league she formed a couple of years after "Stars on Ice."

Mark, according to my father, the '78 silver Mazda is still riding the streets of San Pedro. He sold it in '94 or '95.

I clearly remember Shanon switching into all-wheel drive in his Subaru on the dirt-and-stone roads behind his house. Since then, I kinda became a rally fan.

I'm not surprised a car that hit a cow was sold in honduras. They fix everything with "epoxy" over there!
I'm betting the Lionel Ritchie song was "truly" or "hello".

Blogger Rol said...

Yvette, the song was "Truly". Sick!!!
