La Lima Class of 1984
La Lima Class of 1984
I think I finally figured it out. yes, I'm slow, bear with me!
I'm trying to remember cool memories, but as I was usually out on the bench, I guess I can't partake as much. My memories are more about what happened outside of school...climbing the tree in Mark's backyard, Lidia and Monica having a "detective" club (along with a million other clubs throughout the years), the tires behind the bathrooms where we played star wars, making clay images of that weird creature from "Clash of the titans" and eating "palomitas" every afternoon at the club. I also remember Rolando's passion for hamburgers!
Anywho, about me...since I am a bit egocentric: Work as a leasing agent, while going to school part time. You may all remember, I was never a star student, so I avoided college for a long time. But, after waking up from a long party, I realized I had no future and nothing to show for the thirty odd years I've been alive, so I did the adult learning thing.
I have a ten year old, who is my total opposite (thank God!) and is truly the light of my life.
"and that's all I have to say about that"

Hector!! You are doing some cool stuff! I always had a feeling you'd be a musician. How did you hear about the blog? I am so happy to hear how you are doing and cannot believe how many people we have tracked down. Please post some pics of yourself and your daughters and send my regards to your parents and sisters.
Yvette, thanks for the update. I enjoyed surfing your myspace site. You bring up some other fun memories. My mom thinks you are one of the funniest people on the planet and I agree. :)
Changing gears for a moment, I am very sorry to hear about Dayan's passing. We all have fond memories of the wonderful person he was. I remember he once brought back a Whopper from Burger King from the US and shared a tiny piece with me. It was heaven on earth!! This was before fast food made it down. Rol, did you get a bite?
I do hope we catch up, whether in Honduras next month or in Denver this Fall.
HOLA HECTOR! Qué gusto saber de ti.
Mándame tu email para mandarte acceso a la página..mi correo es monicapowers at comcast.net.
Un abrazo
Hector! como estas, tantos años man. Saludame a tu familia!
EILL has gone GLOBAL
Hector is stealing my thunder in this thread!
Yvette, you never stop cracking me up!! You need to be a professional comedienne (is that spelling right, Monica?)
Damn Hector, are you sure you didn't study a little teologia, ahora estamos confesando a Yvette!!
Yvette, hurray for going back to school. What are you studying now?
bueno, Hector...how did that happen? well, when a man and a woman love each other very much...
back in 95 I already had him. I know you were living there, I think teaching English at Gemah? I think that's where I saw you because I was taking a programming course there. Anywho...my real dad also went to our school. I'm a second generation La Lima American (as it was still called when I was there). He moved to New Orleans at a young age and when my mom went to school there, they started dating. they divorced when I was 5, which is how I ended up in La Lima. He passed away in 94.
I met Jared's dad when I was in the navy. I found out two weeks after I got out that I was pregnant.
Mark, thanks for the kind words on Dayan. He really was a great man up until the end. I also heard about your dad's passing a few years ago and was so sorry to hear that. He was also a great man who discovered so much in his field. Truly a brilliant person.
I now study radiology and am trying to get over grossing out over my anatomy pictures. Talk about going into the wrong field! The things we do for money...
will someone teach me how to post pictures? I feel so stupid not figuring it out!

Good luck!
Yvette, I'm so glad your pics are online now. What a crew!
Life certainly has a way of throwing one curve balls and you do the best you can. It really has been a silver lining to have my Mom here. As much as we looked forward to having us and our kids spend lots of time in Honduras, my Mom gets to spend so much quality time with them here. She has bunk beds in her guest bedroom and Andrew and Elizabeth spend one night almost every weekend. They know grandma will take them to Target and to IHOP for breakfast and everyone has a ball. :) Now with the baby, she loves to come over and watch him occasionally too.
I congratulate you on going back to school. It is so hard to do once adulthood sets in. You have called yourself a terrible student; however you are one of the smarter people I know!
so grandma spoils the kids, huh? Well, as much as your mom likes children, I'm sure she is wonderful with them.
you know, I have always been grateful for the education I got in La Lima. In retrospect, it was an amazing school. Now, reading everyone's posts, I am more convinced than ever that we got a superior education. When I read most peoples' blogs, I find spelling mistakes, poor punctuation, etc. I wonder who pounded good writing structure into us. I'm guessing Ms. Flores.
Yvette, I still love hamburgers! And you're still funny as hell!
I heard about Dayan, it is such a shame. He was a great person.
It's funny, whenever I get to talk to "gringuitos" they always ask: "Where are you from?", "Where'd you learn to speak English?" I proudly reply, "In Honduras, I went to an excellent bilingual school."
ok, speaking of funny, I always thought you were the funniest in our class. I remember you making us all laugh in class.
I'm surprised you don't get mistaken for a gringuito. You remember being Frosy the Snowman one year?
Hector, I'm sorry to tell you your memory has failed you. Mrs. Argueta cast me as Frosty, the Snowman in the 3rd grade. I can't forget the heat I felt the night of the play inside that costume made of wire and a little bit of foam and cotton. Maybe you tried the costume before the play, my brother, but I was Frosty. ;)
Yeah...I remember being Raggety Andy sharing the lead with Monica Bocock. :)
Hector, I would not be surprised if Rolando comes back saying HE played Raggety Andy. The nerve!
Gringo, me has hecho mearme de la risa!!!!
If you were Raggedy Andy, I went off to school in Austin, TX!!!
I could not resist!! :-)
My partner in the dance was Claudia. I still remember the hat and white canvas "tipico" outfit!
Are you sure about the dance prizes? I am no dancer and any prize I got was certainly out of mercy!
YES, I do remember dancing xique...but I don't remember much about a birthday party. Isn't that sad, not remembering things? Me pregunto qué parte del cerebro me quedará si es que llego a los 50, 60.
Tell us more so we can all remember.
I still love that Pop Muzik song. Creo que había rondando una versión por mi casa en 45. Wonder what happened to my records.
The year we did the xique, virgilio, someone else and me played shepherds in the seventh grade nativity play (that they did every single year!) because we hated dancing.
The last party I attended was in sixth grade at Mark's house. I remember walking in and all the girls were standing in that little foyer entrance, refusing to go in. Then we acted out jokes and the ones who weren't acting would chase us "actors" asking for our autograph.
